The school holidays SPORTEX soccer and netball games resume on Saturday 23 June, following a successful launch during the month of March.

The games would once again be staged at the Mampatile Primary School.

Like during the launching pad earlier in the year, the games would feature soccer and netball matches for the age group categories of under-13, under-15 and under-17.

Co-ordinator Nakedi Baloyi said there had been challenges in terms of logistics such as providing snacks for the participants, and were looking for a generous sponsor in this regard.

Local store owners had been engaged, and negotiations were underway.

Fixtures for the rest of the schoolholidays were to be released early on Saturday, he said.

“The objective, as was the case in March, is to keep these youngsters away from the streets,” he said.

The holiday games were being co-ordinated in conjunction with a couple of other community-based civic groupings.
