The Modimolle-based athletics club, Fitness for All, visited all five no-fee schools in the area, to distribute free sanitary towels.

Members of the club visited Lekkerbreek Primary School, Dagbreek Primary School, Modimolle Primary School and Maokeng Primary School for the charity drive, on Tuesday 23 October.

The initiative was aimed at ensuring that the girl child was always available for lessons at their respective schools.

The Fitness for All secretary, Tsheletsi Selepe, said going forward various spheres of government had to be sensitised that special attention needed to be granted to the girl child.

“Sanitary pads need to be given out free to needy learners such as is the case with condoms,” he said.

Selepe said the Fitness for All movement was in the process of engaging the business sector and the broader community to contribute towards the sustainability of the distribution of sanitary
pads.

“We take this opportunity to thank members of the community who helped us make this particular initiative a success,” he added.
