Magalies Water has come up with strategic ways to assist alleviate water supply challenges in the broader Modimolle-Mookgophong Local Municipality.

Water supplies in parts of the municipal jurisdiction have been a challenge, with the municipality having to bring in mobile water tankers to assist affected residents.

The bulk water supplier has made arrangements with the Bela Bela Local Municipality, to put into effect a water rationing system.

Modimolle-Mookgophong Mayor Marlene van Staden said the move meant that Magalies Water would reduce water supplies to the Bela-Bela Local Municipality from 3.9 mega litres to 2.5 mega litres per day.

Through this rationing system, she said, Magalies Water envisaged the shutting down of water supplies to Bela-Bela between 20:00 to 05:00, with the objective to improve on the pipelines
reticulation pressure for the Modimolle-Mookgophong Local Municipality during the night.

Van Staden has acknowledged the Waterberg business chamber and Nylstene for playing a significant role in addressing the issue of water in Modimolle.

According to Van Staden, the Waterberg Business Chamber assisted the municipality to fix two boreholes at Driehekke.

On its part, Nylstene drilled two additional boreholes at Extension 13.

She said it was hoped that this development will go a long way in providing huge relief for local residents.
